Primera Technology – Mark Strobel

Thoughts from Primera Technology Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mark Strobel about the upcoming NAB2007 convention.

Q. What kind of products or services does your company offer for professional audio buyers/users – especially those who might be attending the NAB show?

A. Primera Technology is the world’s leading manufacturer of CD, DVD and BD disc publishing systems. These are devices that automatically burn and print direct-to-disc up to several hundred discs at a time. Primera is quite well known for its Bravo-series Disc Publishers.

Q. What’s new that you will show at NAB2007?

A. The Bravo SE Disc Publisher will make its NAB debut this year. Bravo SE is the industry’s most affordable, automated CD/DVD duplication and printing system. Priced at $1,495 MSRP, Bravo SE uses a robotic arm to first burn the disc and then inkjet print full-color, photo-quality images directly to the surface of the disc. Many NAB [convention] attendees and exhibitors will use the Bravo SE to archive and distribute audio and video for commercials, television shows, shorts, dailies, music, sound effects and more.

Q. How is your new product offering different from what’s available on the market?

A. Bravo SE incorporates the same reliability and performance of Primera’s higher-end Bravo-series Disc Publishers, but at a price almost any company or organization can afford. In addition, Bravo SE ships with both Mac and Windows software.

Q. What is the biggest issue concerning your industry?

A. One of the issues facing the CD/DVD duplication and printing industry was resolved last year with the introduction of water-resistant inkjet printable surface media. Now users can burn and print discs that are virtually waterproof with high resolution and quality. In the past six months, the price of water-resistant media has dropped by up to 21 percent, making it affordable as well as robust.

Q. Where are you based and how many employees do you have? Anything else we should know about your company?

A. Primera Technology is headquartered in Plymouth, Minn. Primera distributes its products in more than 85 countries with support for European customers in Wiesbaden, Germany, through Primera Europe.
