Sirius Satellite Radio is exploring the idea of adding its service to the Apple iPod.
Talks have taken place between Sirius and Apple, according to Reuters, which reports that Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin revealed the talks at a media conference in New York this week.
Apple did not see the need to combine the functions at this point, Sirius told Reuters.
At CES in January, Sirius announced plans to introduce its own Sirius-branded portable satellite radio receiver this year. XM, with partner Delphi, introduced a portable receiver last fall.
Speaking to Radio World at CES, a spokesman said Sirius was exploring all possibilities to expand its music service hardware options.
