Sirius Satellite Radio expands its traffic/weather channels to 20 markets on Monday, March 29. Sirius First Traffic uses local, on-the-scene reporters, says the company.
The markets to be added to the channel lineup are: Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco-San Jose, Boston, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Washington, Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Seattle, Tampa-St. Petersburg, Phoenix, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Baltimore and San Diego. These markets join New York and Los Angeles in the Sirius lineup.
“Since its debut in February, Sirius First Traffic has been a rousing success with our subscribers in Los Angeles and New York,” said Jay Clark, executive vice president of programming, Sirius.
Sirius broadcasts traffic conditions from operations centers located around the country. Reports for these markets are available nationwide to all subscribers for no extra charge.
