Sirius Partners With Navteq for Traffic Service

Sirius will provide real-time traffic data to vehicles over its nationwide satellite radio network. The company has signed an agreement with Navteq, which provides mapping and traffic data reporting services to consumers.
Initially, the service will cover 30 markets and is expected to expand to more than 50.
XM debuted a similar service with Navteq in April.
According to company officials, Sirius auto and retail partners plan to offer it as a product upgrade for their upcoming navigational systems. The satcaster also expects the traffic service to provide an additional revenue stream.
