Avionics Innovations will manufacture a Sirius radio for aircraft use. The Federal Aviation Administration has okayed the concept, according to Sirius. The Avionics Innovations Sirius Satellite Radio receiver (AI-SSR) will be available through its dealer network. The AI-SSR uses a Sirius receiver manufactured by Clarion that is customized for the aviation environment by Avionics Innovations.
The AI-SSR is designed to integrate into any aircraft’s intercom system so pilots and passenger can automatically switch between essential communications and Sirius’ 100 streams of programming.
