Sirius Selects NXP Semiconductors for Satellite TV Service

NXP Semiconductors said Sirius has selected its Nexperia PNX9520 processor for Sirius Backseat TV to be available later this year in select 2008 model Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

NXP Semiconductors said Sirius has selected its Nexperia PNX9520 processor for Sirius Backseat TV to be available later this year in some 2008 model Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

The multimedia processor from NXP, founded by Philips, has been designed into a system from Delphi Corp. NXP said the processor is designed for in-car entertainment, and enables picture quality through a combination of efficient video decoding, post-processing and graphics acceleration features. The processor can implement future audio and video codecs as they become available.

Sirius Backseat TV will feature animation from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network.
