Sirius Takes ‘Plug-and-Play’ Approach With RadioShack

Sirius Satellite Radio has begun shipping Orbiter Plug and Play receivers to roughly 6,000 RadioShacks. Sirius says the move increases its retail presence by nearly 50%.
The Orbiter Model SR4000 will be the only satellite radio receiver offered by RadioShack.
The receiver can be moved from a car to a truck, home, RV or boat with one subscription and an optional kit that includes an antenna and RCA audio connections. The mobile docking station has a wireless FM transmitter that transmits the Sirius signal to the existing car radio.
The Orbiter lists for around $100 and is compatible with mobile docking stations (which list for $49.95) and a boombox.
Through July 17, the Sirius subscription rate is $9.99 a month with an annual subscription paid in advance.
