Slacker Expands Reach

Internet radio company inks deals with Ford, ABC

Slacker Personal Radio announced two deals that expand its reach.

Slacker will now be accessible in 2012 Ford vehicles via that company’s Sync AppLink interface. Sync AppLink allows for voice command of system-attached smartphone apps. Using Slacker’s smartphone app (Android, BlackBerry, iOS), Ford drivers will be able to access their Slacker accounts and perform standard operations.

Vehicles with Sync AppLink include 2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Fiesta, Mustang, F-150, Expedition, Shelby GT500 along with Lincoln MKZ and Navigator.

Director of Ford Connected Services Doug VanDagens complimented Slacker in the announcement for its “huge” music library.

Separately, Slacker is adding “lifestyle” stations developed with ABC News Radio. Material will be gathered from ABC News, ABC content partners and programs such as “Good Morning America.”

Topics will include health, employment, relationships, fashion, technology, religion, consumer news and more.
