Slovakia’s Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RU) has announced that it is expanding support for DAB+ digital radio coverage to the cities of Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Kosice, Nitra and Levice.
Bratislava will be the first city to expand DAB+ capabilities, with RU setting a Sept. 30 date to extend digital terrestrial radio in a local multiplex run by network provider Towercom. Banská Bystrica, Kosice, Nitra and Levice will see DAB+ services launch at various dates from Dec. 31, 2016 to June 30, 2017. Network operator Avis, will run the multiplex in Nitra and Levice.
Towercom began T-DAB+ trials in Bratislava, Slovakia in December 2015.
