Small WorldDMB, iPod Combo Featured

Frontier Silicon releases iPhone 4 docking module with FM, DAB

Multiplatform radio components are getting smaller, judging from the latest from Frontier Silicon.

That company is showing its latest DAB/DAB+/DMB-Radio/FM system module, the Verona2i, at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair this week.

Compatible with its Verona module, this one adds iPod and iPhone 4 docking while meeting demands of entry-level price-point radios, according to the supplier.

Frontier Silicon says it uses an IC that integrates sufficient on-chip memory to demodulate and decode all three WorldDMB standards. The module is tiny, at 48 by 28 mm, which Frontier says makes it the smallest FM, DAB, DAB+, DMB-Radio, iPod docking combined module out there.

This module will be available to receiver makers in November for radios expected to appear on the shelves in spring.
