Tavis Smiley is coming back to public radio. After leaving NPR last November while saying the network hasn’t done enough to diversify its audience, the African-American has signed on with Public Radio International to do a weekly two-hour show. “The Tavis Smiley Show” begins April 29. PRI says it will feature “a high-energy exchange of views, information, and insight, featuring the incomparable Tavis Smiley and guests.”
It’s available to PRI’s 700 affiliates for broadcast and streaming during PM drive.
Smiley also hosts a show on PBS and is a political commentator on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show.”
