SNL Financial has acquired media research and analysis firm Kagan Research.
The buyer is a Virginia-based company that provides business info to investment banks, money managers and corporations; it plans to integrate Kagan’s analysis into its online information service over the course of 2007.
Kagan was founded in 1969 and is based in California; it provides financial data and forecasting for broadcast TV and radio as well as other sectors. Products include newsletters and reference books, electronic data services, consulting, appraisals and executive forums.
SNL President Mike Chinn said the deal combines Kagan’s expertise and proprietary data and analysis with SNL’s proficiency in gathering relevant financial info into a single database. Its target clients will include investment bankers, research analysts, operating companies, consultants, lawyers and ratings agencies.
