Sonifex S2 for Internet Subcity

For Internet broadcasting, the S2 has simultaneous analog and digital outputs so that users can connect the SPDIF digital output directly to the soundcard of a PC for streaming.

An S2 digital I/O analog radio broadcast mixer from Sonifex is helping Subcity Radio to promote local sounds.

The student-run University of Glasgow stations focus on the Glaswegian music scene, airing mostly specialist programs and following no set playlist.

To replace an old mixer, Subcity Manager Heather Robertson ordered a 25-frame S2. She specified three mic/line channels, five stereo channels with equalization and a 10-channel-wide script space enough to house a standard 105-key PC keyboard.

“The reason that we chose the S2 was mainly for its ease of use — the DJs are a mixture of experienced users and novices alike, so it was important to offer them a console, which had all the features that they would need, but which would be simple for them to use on air,” Robertson said.
