South African Ad Shop Wins Top Radio Laurels in Cannes

'Plain Insanity' campaign for Virgin Atlantic singled out at advertising festival

At the 56th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, South African advertising South African advertising agency NET#WORK BBDO Johannesburg took the Radio Lion Grand Prix for its campaign promoting first-class travel on Virgin Atlantic Airline. The ads were produced by FIRST#LEFT Johannesburg and aired on 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

The series of 60-second ads each tell a story of “plain insanity” to oddly illustrate the idea of flying Virgin Atlantic Upper Class with “first class for a business class fare.”

The Gold, Silver and Bronze Lion winners, as well as audio and English-language scripts, are on the Cannes Lions festival Web site.
