Special Honors for Ed Christian

Saga’s CEO will receive National Radio Award from NAB

Quick, which radio broadcast CEO is an honorary consul for Ireland?

The answer to that trivia question is easy if you saw the headline. It’s Ed Christian, the president, chief executive officer and chairman of Saga Communications.

He’ll add another honor to his wall this autumn at the NAB Radio Show when he’ll receive the NAB National Radio Award.

NAB’s EVP of Radio John David lauded Christian for his commitment to local communities and public service.

Christian has been head of Saga Communications since it was founded. Before 1986 he worked at Josephson Communications as executive vice president and later as president. From 1974 to 1984 he was president and GM of WNIC(FM) in Detroit.

At Saga Communications he oversees 91 radio stations, five full-power and four network low-power TV stations, the Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota Radio Networks and the Michigan and Minnesota Farm Radio Networks.

He’s also chairman of the Radio Music License Committee and Broadcasters’ Foundation and is a board member of the NAB, among other duties.
