Spotify Provides Music for PlayStation4

On-demand and playlist choices available

Internet music streamer Spotify and Sony Network Entertainment International have launched a new music experience for Sony’s PlayStation platform, allowing gamers to provide their own soundtrack to their favorite games. Spotify on PlayStation Music is available in 41 markets across the globe starting March 30.

Via PlayStation4’s background listening capabilities, users can now listen to over 30 million tracks while playing any video game. All songs are on-demand and users can access from their own personalized list or by via browsing. There are also prearranged gaming playlists. Spotify connect also lets users control the music from a mobile device without having to pause the game.

“Music has always been a big part of gaming,” says Gustav Söderström, chief production officer at Spotify. “With today’s launch, we’re bringing back that magic of gaming with music — all in a beautifully designed and smooth experience that looks great on the big screen.”

Spotify on PlayStation Music is available to all Spotify users on PS4 and PS3 and will also become available on Xperia smartphones and tablets.
