As the year winds down, prepare for an onslaught of year-end roundups. Early out of the gate is Spotify with news of top streamed artists according to the preferences of Spotify listeners.
The Internet streamer says that Ed Sheeran was the most streamed artist on its network worldwide. It says the British singer racked up 860 million “listens.” His album “x” also topped the album charts at 430 million sessions.
Katy Perry���s “Dark Horse” had the longest run atop the Spotify charts at 11 weeks.
Pharrell Williams “Happy” was the single most streamed track at 260 million listens across the world.
Spotify pointed to Irish singer/songwriter Hozier as the “most viral” artist, spending 47 weeks meandering on the “viral” charts, peaking at #1.
Spotify says it gathered this info based on 50 million users and seven billion hours of listening.
