Spotify Upgrades Android

Company cites a “top-to-bottom” redesign

Internet music player Spotify released an upgraded Android app.

The company says the app is a “top-to-bottom” redesign.

According to a release, the new Spotify is compatible with Android 4.0. It adds some GUI fixes and improvements, including artist images in high-res, slide out navigation, Last.fm scrobbling and an “Extreme” 320 kbps high-quality streaming setting. The social media aspects have also been improved.

Spotify VP of Products Gustav Södertröm said, “For all our Android users, this Spotify update is a huge leap forward. We’ve rebuilt it from top to bottom, making it faster, slicker and much better looking.”

It’s currently available as a free trial.
