RW asked Conrad Trautmann, CPBE, of Dial Global Radio Networks in New York about his plans for the NAB Show.
Goals: Meet with vendors, “typical NAB stuff.”
Meetings to attend:SBE Board of Directors, NRSC, RAIN
When he’ll be there: Saturday through Thursday
What major technical projects is your organization working on now or in the coming months?
Continuing to refresh our aging equipment and technology with the latest technology.
Are there specific vendors or products you’re expecting to look at on the show floor?
We’ll be stopping by Sierra Automated Systems (SAS), Omnirax, International Datacasting, Wegener, Cube-Tec, Fraunhofer, CCS, Harris, Microsoft and others.
What are the two or three most important technical trends for radio managers in 2012?
Clearly the shift to digital distribution is a major trend that should be paid attention to closely. The RAIN conference is highlighting the recent developments in this area.
How do you think the NAB Show experience has changed over the years?
A major change occurred a few years ago when NAB reorganized the floor layout. For years it was Radio in the North Hall, TV in the Central and new media in the South. But the new layout certainly makes more sense for our evolving business. The addition of the new, two-story South Hall keeps everything in one place rather than bus rides to the Sands…that’s also nice. It seems like a lot more floor to cover these days though and a little harder to make sure nothing is missed.
