Brian Florence is dead, according to an AP report carried by CNN.
Florence made headlines in 2002 when he was charged with having sex with his girlfriend inside St. Patrick’s Cathedral in an infamous stunt that resulted in the firing of WNEW(FM) DJs Opie and Anthony.
Florence was 39; he died in Alexandria, Va., last week of a heart attack. He had been facing a minor charge in the case at the time of his death. AP reported that the case of co-defendant Loretta Lynn Harper has been postponed until November. Radio producer Paul Mercurio pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to perform seven days of community service.
