Susan Stamberg will be honored with the 2007 Gracie Allen Tribute Award.
The American Women in Radio and Television named the NPR journalist to receive the award, saying she “created many in-roads for the women of today through her long-standing career in radio and enjoys a legacy worth celebrating and emulating.”
Stamberg is a special correspondent for NPR, where she has been for 36 years. She was the first woman to anchor a national nightly news program and has been inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame and the Radio Hall of Fame, among others.
Her colleague Linda Wertheimer will present the award during the Gracie Awards event in June in New York.
