In preparation for the 2008 Nippon Professional Baseball season, a pair of Japanese regional stations are adding Centauri II codecs from Mayah Communications to their kit bags.

RKB Radio and KBC Radio, both based in Fukuoka Prefecture, received the rights to broadcast all games of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks NPB team live and the stations needed a way to transmit game coverage to partner stations in other parts of Japan.

The stations selected the Centauri II, which is able to automatically synchronize with apt-X-based devices and most MPEG-based audio codecs. It also provides extensive IP-based audio and management functionality. Matsuda Trading Co. Ltd. (MTC), the local distributor and systems integrator for Mayah, handled the deal.

Hawks ballgames will be carried by stations in Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and across the Kyushu region of southern Japan.

The Centauri II units will be used to carry commentary, interviews and atmosphere sound from the Yahoo! Japan Dome, the home ground of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. In total, more than a dozen Mayah units are involved in the project.
