Rep. Cliff Stearns’ defeat in a Florida Republican Party primary has put the Florida lawmaker’s subcommittee chairmanship in play.
The longtime member of the House Commerce Committee was also chairman of its Oversight Subcommittee.
Stearns has long been active on tech and telecom issues and previously was the ranking member of the committee’s Communications, Technology and Internet panel.
NAB, NCTA, Verizon and AT&T were some of Stearns top donors during this election cycle, reports The Hill.
A 24-year member of the House, Stearns conceded the race to veterinarian Ted Yoho on Wednesday, according to the Gainesville Sun.
