Stern Ends Run on Terrestrial Radio

An awful lot of “thank you’s” this morning from Howard Stern.
Stern – 1973 Boston University communications graduate, son of a radio engineer, legendary shock jock and owner of a half-billion-dollar contract with Sirius – leaves terrestrial radio today for the new frontier of satellite, taking with him much of what has defined or modeled morning radio for the last two decades. He starts on Sirius Satellite Radio Jan. 9, where he will reportedly receive $500 million over five years.
He hosted his last show on Infinity’s WXRK(FM) Friday and led a bus caravan through the city, as covered by the Associated Press.
