Stern Stays

Satellite star sticks with Sirius XM

“I can’t see us going to another place. We’ve got a good little machine here.”

That’s Howard Stern, quoted (by the New York Daily News) on his new five-year deal with Sirius XM.

Putting content on mobile devices is part of the headlines with this deal; the company said in its announcement that it “will now have the right to transmit Howard’s exclusive programming to mobile devices.” It didn’t announce other terms.

In the announcement, Stern was quoted pointing out that on his first day in satellite radio, Sirius had 600,000 subscribers and that the combined companies now have 20 million.

“In my view, we have just scratched the surface of how many people will get on board.”

His previous contract was for a half-billion dollars over five years, the Daily News reported.
