Steve Harvey Morning Show Launches Contest

Listeners can sing for a chance to attend Neighborhood Awards Freedom Friday Party

The Steve Harvey Morning Show” and insurance company State Farm have announced the return of the “Sing Your Way to the Neighborhood Awards Freedom Friday Party” contest, which will give listeners the chance to perform at the 13th Annual Neighborhood Awards in Atlanta and win a prize of $10,000.

Starting this week listeners can enter the competition online, with entry options including submitting videos and performing live in open auditions. The top eight contestants will compete in weekly semifinals to decide the top four finalists on the morning show. The top four competitors will perform in front of a live audience, and a panel of judges will select one singer to take home the grand prize.

Then, on Aug. 7, comedian and television personality Sheryl Underwood will host the “Sing Your Way to the Neighborhood Awards Freedom Friday Party” finale competition during the Neighborhood Awards events at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.

Marking its 13th anniversary, Steve Harvey and television/radio executive producer Rushion McDonald created the Neighborhood Awards Show (formerly the Hoodie Awards) and Weekend Expo to celebrate men and women who uplift their neighborhoods through their contributions as local businesses, religious/community leaders, educators, churches and high schools.

“The Steve Harvey Morning Show” program was created by Harvey and McDonald in September 2000, and it joined Premiere Networks’ national lineup in 2005.
