In a note to clients, Stifel Nicolaus analyst Blair Levin said he was hearing “increasing chatter” that the Justice Department was close to issuing a decision on the proposed satellite radio merger.
Though not the first time he’s heard such discussion, the higher activity indicated a decision is close, according to Levin as reported by Barron’s Tech Trader Daily; and if approved, FCC approval would presumably not be far behind.
FCC Chairman Kevin Martin recently told reporters the agency had no timetable for the decision; analysts have been speculating about the timing of a decision for a year now.
