The chairman of Jefferson-Pilot Corp. will retire from that post Friday.
David A. Stonecipher leaves his executive position; the company said he has agreed to remain as non-executive chairman of the board. The company had a senior management succession earlier this year when Dennis R. Glass became CEO.
Stonecipher, 63, joined Jefferson-Pilot in 1992 as CEO-elect. He became chairman in 1998.
Jefferson-Pilot’s communications subsidiary has 18 radio and three TV stations.
