Craig Strom, a TV engineer active in BAS issues, will receive the Broadcast Engineer of the Year Award from the Society of Broadcast Engineers.
SBE said he was recognized for work to mitigate interference to TV Broadcast Auxiliary Services from Advanced Wireless Services. Strom is assistant director of engineering for WLS(TV) in Chicago and has been the frequency coordinator for the Chicago area for BAS above 1 GHz for 13 years.
The Educator of the Year is Fred Baumgartner, who has served as program organizer for more than 20 regional Ennes Workshops and written numerous articles. He co-authored the original “SBE Television Certification Handbook” and wrote the first SBE Certification Exam for television Master Control Operators as well as the “SBE Guide to Writing Broadcast Station Operations Manuals.”
Among other awards announced, Syracuse Chapter 22 of the SBE earned recognition for best regional conference.
