Studer Wins BBC Contract

Some 85 digital air consoles are involved

Studer, part of Harman, won a contract from the BBC to deliver some 85 OnAir digital audio mixing consoles over two years.

“Some will be deployed in the second phase of the rebuilding of the Portland Place London HQ where more than 50 studios are to be built for use by the BBC’s World Service and News divisions,” the manufacturer stated.

“In 2005 four Vista consoles were installed for the larger radio production drama studios as part of the first phase of the project, this new agreement extends the corporation’s use of Studer consoles in London.”

The BBC also will install 25 OnAir consoles at the MediaCityUK broadcast center in Manchester to support digital studios for domestic radio services such as BBC 5 Live.
