Subaru Integrates iHeartRadio App Into Dashboard

The broadcast streaming music and live radio service app is part of StarLink infotainment system

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment’s iHeartRadio streaming music and live radio service is Subaru’s first content partner for the automaker’s cloud service application on its StarLink infotainment system.

The iHeartRadio service is an app on the infotainment system that will be demoed this week at the New York Auto Show.

Clear Channel Digital President Brian Lakamp said, “New technologies like Subaru’s StarLink enables us to extend the iHeartRadio experience beyond just towers and transmitters allowing listeners to access all their favorite radio stations across the country, regardless of where they drive.”

Through the iHeartRadio app on StarLink, Subaru drivers can listen to iHeartRadio’s library of 1,500 live radio stations, catalog of 450,000 artists and 18 million songs to create custom stations from the dashboard, the company says. IHeartRadio for Subaru will include features to help minimize driver distraction such as a simple interface to access the iHeartRadio digital service in-vehicle.

Additional features for Subaru drivers include access to their saved favorites, the ability to thumbs up/thumbs down songs to create a more personalized experience, scan live radio stations and tune into iHeartRadio’s shows and personalities feature which offers on-demand news, celebrity and entertainment talk show content, according to the company.
