Max Mayfield is recommending a new approach to handling the aftermath of natural disasters at a summit on EAS and emergency communications in Washington today.
The weather forecaster addresses the need to develop an organization, similar to the National Transportation Safety Board, that will be available to mobilize after a disaster and provide specific recommendations to mitigate future disasters, NAB stated.
The summit focuses on alerts and warnings, how to make sure each state has a robust EAS and examining the security and reliability of broadcasting infrastructure for emergency communications and information dissemination.
