Taiwan Modernizes SW Broadcasts With Ampegon

Company will supply complete turnkey system

Radio Taiwan International has tapped Ampegon to upgrade two transmission sites.

In cooperation with local partner Techway Engineering Ltd., Ampegon will provide and install 10 300 kW DRM shortwave transmitters and 12 rigid dipole broadcast antennas.

At the site near Taipei, four transmitters and two antennas will be installed, and the second will require six transmitters and 10 antennas. Using two new transmitters and antennas, the updated stations have been partially on air since May, and the project is slated to be complete in Autumn 2014.

“Ampegon is very experienced and has delivered shortwave transmitters for us thirty years ago that still work to our full satisfaction,” said Chi-Ming Wang, director of engineering at RTI. Ampegon offers a complete solution approach including transmitters, antennas, control systems and DRM integration.”

According to Ampegon, RTI will see a reduction in energy consumption by replacing the old equipment, and the automated transmitter based on the StationMaster Plus control system will also increase efficiency.
