Tascam CD-601mkII Selects Online, Monitor Play

Tascam says its CD-601mkII broadcast CD player is out; it features remote control, monitoring and playback options. A radio talent can select between online play (on the air) and monitor play (pre-listen), controlling whether CD playback reaches the on-air mixer or the monitoring device.
The optional remote control allows frame-accurate search using the jog wheel, direct location using numerical keys, index searches or flash starts. The deck can save up to 10 cue points per CD, controlled using the Flash Start function.
Features of interest to radio include pitch control, auto cue with five threshold levels, Auto Read and CD Text. Other highlights include a sample rate converter for 48 kHz playback; S/PDIF and AES/EBU digital outputs; and XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced outputs. Also featured is a Fail Safe function to avoid unintentional operation during On-Line playback.
