Swiss telecommunications group Swisscom AG reached an agreement to sell Antenna Hungária Rt to TDF SA of France. Swisscom acquired the Hungarian cable and satellite operator in October 2005.
According to Swisscom, the sale price was 540 million Swiss francs. The deal is subject to approval by Hungary’s competition authority.
Swisscom said it was selling Antenna Hungária because it had been unable to purchase other broadcasting businesses in Central and Eastern Europe as initially planned.
TDF said it plans to use its international experience to support Antenna Hungária in building and operating new digital terrestrial TV, mobile TV and wireless broadband networks in Hungary in the coming years.
