Central Texans will have more options for news from NPR, the BBC and Public Radio International. KUT2 is an all-news channel from KUT Radio, 90.5 FM. The new service is being offered via HD Radio and online.

Programs such as “Morning Edition,” “The Diane Rehm Show” and “The Tavis Smiley Show” will be available via streaming from KUT.org and on KUT2 HD channel 90.5-2 on HD Radio receivers.

Station exec J. Stewart Vanderwilt positioned the move to listeners this way: “KUT2 allows us to deliver more news and entertainment content than we currently are able to on KUT 90.5 FM. In some cases HD Radio will sound better than normal analog FM radio, but the real advantage is our new ability to bring you more great programs from NPR, PRI, American Public Media and the BBC.”
