Univision’s KBTQ(FM) “The Beat” installed studios using Axia IP-Audio networking for studio interconnection and routing. The station is one of three in the Univision McAllen, Texas cluster.
KBTQ, a 100,000-watt FM, installed an Axia network after deciding to upgrade from its studio’s analog equipment. Axia, a Telos company, says its audio network is designed for broadcast studios, and uses Livewire technology to transport real-time audio, Program Associated Data and machine remote control over Ethernet.
“Axia’s use of standard, switched Ethernet as an audio network backbone makes it possible for broadcasters to have all the capabilities of a proprietary mainframe-type router, at about half the cost,” said Axia President Michael Dosch. “Now you don’t have to have the budget of a Top 10 market station to have the advantage of sharing and routing audio.”
