Thai Broadcaster Chooses Harris for HD-R Multicasts

A Thai network operator has begun HD Radio multicasting using Harris Broadcast transmitters, becoming one of the first IBOC services in the Asia-Pacific region.

A Thai network operator has begun HD Radio multicasting using Harris Broadcast transmitters, becoming one of the first IBOC services in the Asia-Pacific region.

Fatima Broadcasting International operates 84 FM stations and a national TV channel for the Public Relations Department of the Thai government. The company also operates a national VBI subcarrier service.

Fatima opted to use IBOC to broadcast multicast programming alongside the main channel program service, and it now broadcasts secondary program services alongside the government’s main channel FM analog programming.

Harris delivered two HD Radio transmitters to Loxley, a Harris representative in Thailand for more than 25 years. The Loxley Transmission System Department handled installation, technical training and post-sales service for the two-region project. The company installed a Z8HD+ transmitter to service the Bangkok region and a ZX2000 transmitter for the Chaing Mai district.
