Thailand: NBTC Maps Out DAB Deployment

Agency celebrates second anniversary with big plans

Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission will focus on managing radio stations and frequency reallocation to pave the way for digital radio, according to The Nation.

The regulatory agency has granted one-year licenses to 2,844 radio stations in the past year with the intention of governing these stations under temporary licenses while the NBTC is drafting guidelines for the conversion from analog to digital radio on the VHF band.

According to The Nation, the NBTC, which celebrated its second anniversary, expects to learn from Australia’s success in reaching more than 10 percent of its population with digital radio.
