The New 93Q Employs Mogreet Platform for Contest

Text-to-vote increases number of entries

Houston’s KKBQ(FM), The New 93Q, owned by Cox Media Group, recently saw record turnout in its annual Gridiron Invasion contest due to a new text messaging option for its listeners from SMS and MMS text message marketing provider Mogreet.

Ten high schools in the area produced individual cheer videos for the contest. Participants selected their favorite by voting online or texting the school’s name to a short-code number. During the five-day contest about one million text votes were sent in, compared to 15,750 online votes — a marked increase over previous years.

The winning school earned a concert by a former American Idol contestant.
