Time to Tell the FCC What You Think About Regulatory Fees

One question is how to assess fees on expanded-band AMs.

The FCC plans to collect $312 million in regulatory fees in fiscal 2008.

The commission is asking for public comments on several fee issues. Among them: how to assess regulatory fees on expanded-band AM stations, which currently are exempt.

It is particularly interested in hearing thoughts about instances where a licensee chooses to retain the expanded band service while giving up the standard band station, and on whether it should impose a separate regulatory fee on an expanded band licensee that holds a standard band license and continues to operate both stations.

Comments are due May 30 for the FCC’s proposed regulatory fees for fiscal year 2008. That’s Docket No. 03-66.
