Tom Joyner Raises Money for HBCUs

Working with Allstate, he raises over $140K

Syndicated radio talk show host Tom Joyner, his charitable foundation and Allstate Insurance worked together to raise over $140,000 for historically black colleges and universities through the 2012 Allstate Quotes for Education program.

The basis of the program was that for every person that was given an insurance quote from an Allstate agent between Aug. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012, who then mentioned the Quotes for Education program to the agent, $10 would be donated. Joyner promoted the program and his foundation was a partner with it as well. It received the funds and will donate them.

Allstate also works with Joyner on the annual Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion.

On raising the school money, Lincoln University of Jefferson City, Mo. won an extra $50,000 from Allstate for a newly instituted fan vote.
