Tonight: Father and Son Will Call NCAA Basketball Game

Scott and Brett Graham will do play-by-play for Maryland-Michigan game

Tuesday’s Maryland-Michigan NCAA basketball game will feature an unusual setup for its radio commentary. The Westwood One broadcast will feature play-by-play from NFL studio host Scott Graham, while his son Brett Graham will serve as an announcer for University of Michigan student radio station WCBN(FM).

Westwood One’s coverage of the Maryland/Michigan game begins at 8:45 p.m. (ET) from the university’s Crisler Center. CBS Sports Radio’s Doug Gottlieb joins Scott Graham with color.

Brett is a sophomore political science major at the University of Michigan, where he has co-hosted a sports talk show and has done play-by-play and color work for men’s and women’s basketball games, using his dad’s charts as a guide, and will be doing analysis in the first half tomorrow night.

“This is one of those rare times when everything comes together in a certain way and gives you a chance to really enjoy the moment,” said Scott Graham. “I never expected this to happen in my career, because none of my three sons had an interest in broadcasting growing up. But Brett does a great job; my wife and I listen to him on the Internet when he’s on. It’s great to be able to mix a ‘parent visit’ in with work. I’m sure I’ll be getting some nuggets about the team and campus from a true Michigan insider, and I’m going to have to make sure I keep my eyes on the court during the game, instead of sneaking a look over at Brett to see how he’s doing!”
