Toyota Scion Expands Standard HD Radio Offerings in 2012 Models

xB urban utility vehicle, tC sport coupe and tC Release Series 7.0 include Pioneer HD Radios

Scion is including Pioneer HD Radio receivers as standard equipment in the 2012 model year xB urban utility vehicle, tC Sport Coupe and tC Release Series 7.0.

The news represents an expansion of HD Radio in Scion-branded vehicles, which began offering HD Radio in its 2009 model year vehicles. IBiquity Digital President/CEO Bob Struble said: “Consumers are interacting with a range of digital media in their vehicles and digital broadcasting is the central pipeline to that entertainment platform.”

Scion said the xB model will also come standard with Bluetooth hands-free operation and Bluetooth streaming audio. The Pioneer AM/FM/CD/HD/USB receiver features a USB and aux port on the center console. Users can plug-in an iPod or iPhone into the USB or aux port to listen to their own music or to connect to Pandora or other audio outlets via the Internet.

The 2012 xB will be available in July and will list for $16,000 – $17,000+ depending upon options.

The 2012 Scion tC and tC Release Series 7.0 models also come with a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/HD/USB receiver featuring Bluetooth hands-free and Bluetooth streaming audio. Users, here, too can plug an iPhone or an iPod unto the USB or aux ports in the center console and listen to music on their own device or connect to Internet music services such as Pandora.

The limited edition tC RS 7.0. will list for around $21,000 depending upon options while the base list price for the 2012 tC will start at $18,500.
