Toyota says it will offer its new Entune in-car Internet radio system on the 2012 Tacoma pick-up truck, Camry and Prius. Entune includes access to platforms like XM Radio, iHeartRadio as well as HD Radio.
The Toyota Entune system is a collection of mobile apps and data services. The automaker is offering three years of complimentary access to its mobile applications. Once a smartphone is connected to the vehicle using Bluetooth wireless technology or a USB cable, Entune’s features are operated using the vehicle’s controls or, for some services, by voice recognition.
The Entune entertainment and communication system includes XM Radio, HD Radio, a CD player, USB connectivity, Bluetooth streaming and phonebook, as well as mobile applications Bing, iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable.com and Pandora as well as real-time info including traffic, weather, fuel prices, sports and stocks. Apps will be available in spring 2012 at no charge, says Toyota.
Toyota has begun promoting the Entune system on a nationwide tour at its dealerships; the tour runs through December.
