An accident affecting a radio station is eerily similar to one of the insurance commercials showing a man sawing a tree limb, which then falls on his neighbor’s car.
Elko Media’s sports talker WSPG(AM), Spartanburg, S.C., on 1400 kHz lost its tower over the weekend. The signal is also carried over a translator on 97.1 FM.
The ESPN affiliate says tree workers hired by a homeowner near the station cut one of the guy wires, sending the tower tumbling.
No one was injured, notes the station, which expects to be off the air for a few days.
