TuneIn Introduces ‘Car Mode’

Voice a command to hear AM/FM/HD, other streamed stations

The audio streaming service TuneIn has introduced its “Car Mode” feature to coincide with the release of the TuneIn 5.3 for Android.

With the new feature, users can listen to music, sports and news by speaking a command into a smartphone or a tablet. Car Mode is coupled with extra large buttons for viewing and control.

TuneIn, formerly RadioTime, offers a total of 50,000 AM, FM, HD and Internet-only streamed radio stations as well as on-demand shows and additional streamed content.

TuneIn is available in 10 languages across smartphones and tablets, connected home stereos, smart TVs, connected automobiles and online. The company raised venture funding from Sequoia Capital in 2010 and it says its personnel work in an old plumbing supply building in Palo Alto, Calif.
