Twittering Audio Engineers

AES show eagerly embracing new media

Audio engineers have a conflicting public reputation: old men trapped in a love affair with tubes and other ancient technology like reel-to-reel tape recorders and technology geeks seeking out the latest technology and early adopters of newfangled gadgets.

On that thought, the upcoming AES Convention, Oct. 9–12 in New York City, has announced that AES convention chairs will be twittering what is happening in sessions or on the floor.

AES Webmaster Steve Johnson said, “We’ll be able to send tweets to let everyone know ‘what’s going on right now, and what’s coming right up’ at the convention in 140-character-long news bursts.”

Follow the show tweets at twitter.com/aesorg or look for the #AES hashtag.

As if that wasn’t edgy enough, the AES Convention calendar of events is being made available for mobile access through iCal and Google Calendar.
