Unions, Consumer Groups to Speak Out on Media Ownership

Also on Wednesday, the federal appeals court will hear oral arguments about the new media ownership rules passed by the FCC last June. Those rules, which included a new radio market definition for the purposes of attributing ownership, were blocked pending the court challenges.
A coalition of unions and consumer groups plans a press conference about the case of Prometheus Radio vs. the FCC. Planning to speak about ownership and the state of the Philly market are representatives of Media Access Project, AFTRA, the National Council of Churches Communications Commission, the Newspaper Guild/CWA, the Greater Philadelphia Newspaper Guild and Prometheus Radio Project.
