U.S. Radio Revenue Flat at the Half-Year Point

Radio revenue was up 1% in the month of June; but for the second quarter it was down a point; and for the year to date, U.S. commercial radio’s overall revenue performance is flat, according to the RAB.
Local ad dollars are the biggest piece of radio’s ad pie; they were down 1 percent in June compared to June of last year. Non-spot revenue continues to do well, increasing 17 percent in the month.
For the first six months of the year, grand total spot and non-spot dollars were flat; local ad dollars was down 1%; national was flat; total combined local and national was down 1% and non-spot revenue climbed 8%.
